SWISS-BELHOTEL INTERNATIONAL OFFERS WECHAT DIGITAL PAYMENT SOLUTION FOR CHINESE TRAVELLERS IN BALI

Hong Kong – Swiss-Belhotel International has announced that 5 out of the 9 hotels and resorts managed by the brand in Bali will offer the WeChat Pay mobile system as a solution for Chinese guests.

Recognizing Chinese travel habits and the popularity of cashless transactions across all major cities in China, Swiss-Belhotel International has finalized an agreement to accept this payment solution for rooms, food and other services using WeChat Pay on guests’ mobile phones.

“The language barrier sometimes means it’s a challenge for Chinese guests to make full use of the services on offer at our hotels in Bali. With the introduction of We Chat Pay we can make sure that our restaurants, spas and activities are easily accessible for Chinese guests,” said Gavin M Faull, Chairman and President, Swiss-Belhotel International.

Since August 1 2018, individual hotels managed by Swiss-Belhotel International in Bali have been installing the system and training their staff to use the We Chat pay platform. The hotels are working with PT. Alto Halodigital International (AHDI), an IT company based in Indonesia which provides a cashless payment system known as Alto QR Pay which links with the WeChat Pay network.

According to travel experts, less than 5% of Chinese citizens have credit cards so they normally have to carry cash with them when travelling to cover their holiday expenses. WeChat Pay offers travellers from China more flexibility, which in turn opens up more vacation choices, especially at hotels that offer them easy payment solutions.

“We Chat Pay provides an opportunity for Chinese guests to experience the best of Balinese hospitality, expressed through the Passion and Professionalism on offer at Swiss-Belhotel properties around the island.  Whether they choose to dine at one of our restaurants, order room service, or extend their stay to fully enjoy the destination, having access to a familiar, trusted payment method removes the need to find trustworthy money changers or rely on pre-booked tours,” added Mr Faull.

The mobile payment option will be available to guests at Swiss-Belresort Pecatu, Swiss-Belresort Watu Jimbar, Swiss-Belhotel Tuban, Swiss-Belhotel Rainforest Kuta and Swiss-Belhotel Segara Nusa Dua.  Each hotel will offer the service at reception, as well as at the cashier counter in the restaurant. The bill will be shown in Indonesian rupiah and payable using a QR code displayed on a mobile phone by the serving staff.  Guests can check the bill then scan the QR code and the successful payment will be displayed in Chinese currency (RMB).
