THE PAVILIONS MADRID OPENS IN CULTURAL HEART OF SPANISH CAPITAL

BANGKOK, THAILAND, 19 April 2018 – Independent boutique hospitality brand, The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, has opened its first property in Spain. The innovative hotel offers guests the unique experience of staying in an art gallery with an impressive selection of works by acclaimed local artists adorning the common spaces, rooms and suites of the capital’s new four-star stay.

The Pavilions Madrid could almost be considered a new branch of the prestigious Alvaro Alcazar Gallery, which has been dedicated to the presentation of contemporary artists from its space on Castelló Street since 2006. The hotel offers a unique exhibition space where guests can enjoy contemporary art pieces, some of them specially created for the hotel, which are also available for purchase. Selected pieces include works by Rafael Canogar and Guillem Nadal, two of the most prestigious Spanish artists on the international art scene.

The Pavilions Madrid is ideally positioned for guests looking to explore the capital’s main museums and art galleries. The artistic theme also fits perfectly with one of the Asian-born hospitality brand’s core goals, which is to provide guests unique cultural experiences.

“Madrid is a natural match for The Pavilions brand. It’s an incredible city filled with style and a passion for the active discovery of art and culture,” says Gordon Oldham, Founder and CEO of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts. “We are delighted to open here as we introduce our unique Asian-inspired hospitality to guests, and extend the experience of romance, art, culture and adventure we have been sharing for more than 17 years in our other properties around the world.”

The opening of The Pavilions Madrid is part of an ambitious expansion plan across Europe and Asia for Pavilions Hotels and Resorts. In addition to Madrid, the brand’s European destinations include Amsterdam and Rome, as well as a new property in Lisbon that’s currently in the construction phase and scheduled to open in 2020.

In Asia, The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts is already well established with properties in paradise destinations such as Phuket and Bali, as well as more remote and adventurous locations such as Nepal and Mongolia. The company is also expanding into residential development with a mixed-use project located in the prestigious ski resort of Niseko, Japan comprising the luxury Ginto Residences and The Pavilions Niseko, slated to open in 2020.

In Spain, The Pavilions Madrid is located on Amador de los Ríos Street, right next to Plaza de Colón, and underwent intense refurbishment with more than US$1 Million invested in the project. The renovation was carried out by Constructora Zimenta, a company that specializes in uniquely construction projects, with innovative designs created by Rome based Studio Marincola Architects.

In order to achieve the required aesthetic, Marincola chose to cover the walls with “Dedar”, creating a warm, earthy feel complimented by blue hues that evoke a Mediterranean feel. The fabrics used throughout the design feature elegant graphics in black and white, which cover headboards and seating to offer an artistic reference to the architectural prints historically associated with the Spanish capital.

“The launch of this new hotel is a testament of our confidence in the continued growth of tourist arrivals to Madrid, which has established itself as one of the most popular urban travel destinations for international visitors,” adds Mr. Oldham.

The Pavilions Madrid offers 25 elegant rooms and 3 suites with terraces overlooking the breathtaking cityscapes. The accommodation is priced between 165 and 375 euros per room, per night. For details and special offers, visit http://pavilionshotels.com/madrid.
