Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day clocks best ever performance in history; hits over 5.8 million orders in 24 hours
BANGKOK, 12 SEP 2018 – Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, wraps up its biggest annual regional shopping event of the year, Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day, surpassing last year’s record at 7.43am (+8:00 GMT) on 9 September. This year’s Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day achieved a new milestone with the highest-ever sales performance in Shopee’s history, with a total of over 5.8 million orders recorded; amounting to 3 times more than an average day.

Over 15 million items were sold within 24 hours; and interestingly on 9 September, the number of items sold across the region exceeded 99,999 in less than 9 minutes.

Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day boasted the support of more than 7 million sellers, and 10,000 brands across the region. In Thailand, sellers and brands enjoyed extended reach and sales uplift, with Eloop, BigC, and Unilever topping the list of best-performing brands during Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day.

Health & Beauty, Baby & Toys, and Mobile & Gadgets also emerged as the top performing categories as Thais shopped over the 12-day event from 29 August to 9 September. Shopee’s huge assortment of health and beauty products was a key attraction as both men and women bought hundreds of thousands of cosmetics, skincare, and other health items during Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day.

The debut of back-to-back themed days during this year’s Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Dayproved to be highly popular. In Thailand, Super Flash Sale Day on 29 Augustwas a highlight, with a large spike in users shopping a wide range of flash deals. Super Beauty Day on 3 September was also a huge hit, with whitening lotions, night creams, and lip balms emerging as the top 3 purchased products.

As part of this year’s 9.9 celebrations, Shopee also launched the first-ever Super Brands Festival on 31 Aug, featuring the largest collection of exciting deals from leading brands on Shopee Mall. Roza, Slumberland, and Coca-Cola saw the greatest boost in orders as shoppers stocked up on their favourite items from top brands.
