CHIANG MAI, THAILAND – From May onwards, akyra Manor Chiang Mai, the stylish and exclusive all-suite luxury hotel in in the city’s artsy Nimmanhemin district will exhibit work by two celebrated local Thai artists. The showcase will give hotel guests the opportunity to surround themselves with artistic influences and purchase exceptional pieces of contemporary Thai culture.

Christophe Gestin, General Manager at akyra Manor Chiang Mai, explains “Design is at the heart of akyra Manor Chiang Mai, therefore the hotel is perfectly suited the event’s theme.” As a winner of several awards, including the Asian Tourism Awards 2017, the Boutique Hotel Awards 2017 and the Property Report Awards 2015 for “Best Hotel Interior Design”, the hotel is proud of its creative approach to hospitality, and for building strong links with the artistic local community. The hotel is also known as a haven of style in the city’s artsy Nimmanhemin district.

Award-winning silver jewellery maker, Kosin Pipattanasookmongkol’s Siam Arak brand pieces will be on sale at the hotel’s boutique, while blockprint artist and studio owner Natheephol ‘Tee’ Charoenturayon’s artwork will be exhibited in the lobby, as well as on each floor of the hotel.

Kosin celebrates Thai culture, heritage and Buddhist philosophy through contemporary, engraved silver ring designs, and was the recipient of the Premier Award in The Product Design Category at the Chiang Mai Design Awards 2017.

Tee, who graduated from Chiang Mai University with a degree in Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking Arts, is an original thinker and artistic storyteller. He creates contemporary prints ranging from cartoon parodies to satirist pop-art and surrealism drawn from his own experiences and tales of those around him.

Whilst running his own studio, he regularly exhibits his original and thought provoking pieces at various art galleries and spaces in the city. His highly original artworks, portrayed through a traditional printing style, resonate with deeper meaning each time they are viewed.

“We are particularly excited to be able to share the work of two such distinctive artists whose passion for their craft is so strongly expressed in everything they produce,” added Mr. Gestin. “The exhibition also underlines the akyra brand’s commitment to offer guests the most inspiring stay possible.”

Artwork by Tee and jewellery by Kosin will be on display at akyra Manor Chiang Mai from 1st May to end of October 2018.
