Phuket Tourist Association (PTA) President,Bhummikitti Ruktaengam, revealed that the PTA along with Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (PPAO) and Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) led a parade of more than 50 Andaman tourism businesses from Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi to the International Tourism Borse (ITB) 2019 in Berlin, Germany, expecting to attract travelers from Europe.

The fair took place from 6-10 March, with booths from more than 200 countries across the globe, and Phuket was a highly popular spot. The Phuket booth was also honoured to welcome Princess UbolRatana Rajakanya on March 7.

According to tourism statistics, there were 837,000 German tourists visiting Thailand in 2018 with an average stay of 17 days and Phuket is one of the most popular destinations, attracting the German travelers to the beautiful beaches.

“It was a pleasure to see that a lot of Phuket tourism entrepreneurs accepted the invitation to showcase their properties here and received a great feedback from the visitors, especially Europeans. The fair was very busy this year and the booths from Phuket received a lot of visitors overall,” said Phuket Governor, Pakkapong Tawipat.

Meanwhile, PPAO Deputy Chief Administrator, Aree Sansom, added that the local authorities understand how important this fair is and approved a budget for Phuket to join this event annually, expecting to support the tourism from Europe while also searching for new markets.

“The PPAO encouragesregular travelers to return to Phuket while also works in increasing new travelers to explore the island,” she noted.
