Centara World Masters To Welcome Over 30 Nationalities In June

Hua Hin, Thailand, 3 April 2019 — You’d be forgiven if you mistake this year’s Centara World Masters Golf Championship for a summit. Over 34 countries are now represented at the international event and that number is expected to edge closer to 40 come June.

The sixth instalment of the Centara World Masters Golf Championship runs 9 to 15 June 2019. This week-long celebration of golf, entertainment and fun kicks-off with a glamorous dinner beachside at the iconic Centara Grand Beachfront Resort. And you won’t have to guess which countries are staying in-house, country flags are scattered throughout the hotel.

“We can’t wait to bring the sixth edition of the Centara World Masters to golfers from around the world. Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin is one of Asia’s leading heritage hotels and ideally situated close to all Hua Hin’s historic and prestigious golf courses, it is the the perfect host venue for the tournament,” said Tom Thrussell, VP Brand, Marketing & Digital at Centara Hotels & Resorts.

“Centara Hotels & Resorts has a wide association with golf, with properties located in all major golfing destinations across Thailand, as well other hotspots in Vietnam, Oman and Qatar. We look forward to welcoming guests to our famous Hua Hin resort and many other Centara hotels in the future,” Thrussell added.

New to this year, the optional home club competition has golfers excited. Tournament Director Mark Hawley explains “The home club competition is an added feature to this years tournament fun. All the scores are added together for members of the same club and the best scoring club will be crowned the winner on the final stage at Centara Grand. Currently we have over 50 clubs signed up to compete as a team at this years event.”

Since introducing this concept, the event has been witness to many new countries joining the competition, all eager to represent and claim their home club as one of the best on the world stage.

And the event welcomes golfers of all skill levels “It doesn’t matter what handicap participants play off, they will find a fair competition within any of the 15+ divisions split by age and handicap. This is one of the reasons why so many participants enjoy the World Masters format.”

In fact, the only entry requirement to attend the Centara World Masters is that you must be 35 years or older and have an official handicap to compete.

This 72-hole tournament is hosted at Hua Hin’s premier championship resort courses. Black Mountain consistently ranked the number one course in Asia, Banyan, Springfield and Imperial Lake View make up the four-course rotation for all players.

Repeat participant Suzie Malligan highlighted “My husband and I have attended the Centara World Masters 4 times. We love Hua Hin, it is truly the perfect holiday destination and golf destination. The courses, the caddies and everything you could possibly need is all organised for you which is why we come back year after year.”

Thai Beverage, makers of Chang beer, are an event sponsor and it seems golf must be thirsty work. More than 10,000 waters and 8,000 Chang beers are consumed at the golf courses and scheduled events. There’s also free wine at the nightly 19th Hole events. This sounds like one hell of a party.

This tournament is a collaboration between Australian based Go Golfing, who have been hosting World Masters Golf events around the world for 24 years, and Thailand based Golfasian who look after more golfers travelling to Asia than any other golf tour operator.
