Season Three of Kata Rocks’ Culinary Cinema returns with an exciting Halloween celebration by popular demand. Seven, the 1995 American neo-noir crime thriller film directed by David Fincher, was selected by public choice, receiving the most votes on social media. It will kick off an action-packed season of hit films on Friday 3 November at 6:30 pm.
Culinary Cinema is an original way to interpret film using the senses via aroma, texture and taste. Guests receive a tray of numbered mystery boxes containing a bite-sized menu dégustation (tasting menu) custom-designed to enhance specific moments and punctuate dramatic highlights during the film.
As the story progresses and plot line thickens, food-matched moments are signalled on a nearby screen, designating which numbered package that should be opened and enjoyed. Culinary Cinema menus are designed to represent a liberal and creative gastronomic interpretation of a prevailing emotion, environment, turn-of-phrase or overall feeling playing out on screen.
The plot of Seven centres around two detectives, a rookie (Brad Pitt) and a veteran (Morgan Freeman), who hunt a serial killer (Kevin Spacey) that uses the seven deadly sins as his motives. Seven, based on a screenplay by Andrew Kevin Walker, was nominated for Best Film Editing at the 68th Academy Awards and grossed over US$ 327 million worldwide. It also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, John C McGinley and R Lee Ermey.
