Dtac joins hands with Central giving Happy Tourist SIM customers 10% discount and 100-baht cash card for shopping in Thailand throughout 2019
April 24, 2019 – Total Access Communication PLC or dtac, the provider of Happy Tourist SIM, joins hands with Central Group to launch a special campaign to thank customers using the service. dtac is the first mobile operator to partner with the top department store to promote tourism shopping by giving out Central E-Tourist Card that offers 10% discount and 100-baht E-Cash Coupon for shopping at every Central store and ZEN and Central branches of Supersports, B2S, and Mark & Spencer. Happy Tourist SIM customers can present E-Tourist Card and E-Coupon with a valid passport to get the privilege at participating stores throughout 2019.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the number of tourists visiting Thailand in 2018 was over 38 million, an increase of 3 million or 8% growth over the previous year. Chinese tourists are still number one in Thailand, accounting for 28% of all inbound tourists to Thailand and contributing over 500 billion baht of the country’s total tourism revenue of 2 trillion baht. The average daily spending of Chinese tourists is 5,500 baht. Based on a MasterCard survey in 2018, Bangkok is one of the most popular cities and shopping destinations. Bangkok is ranked number 6 in terms of shopping revenue from tourists of 120 billion baht (3,750 million USD), approximately 23% of total tourism spending. Chinese tourists alone contribute 41% of total tourism spending.
According to a survey study, Chinese tourists like to buy food and snacks 63%, gifts and souvenirs 62%, cloths 51%, cosmetic products and personal items 49%.
