PHUKET: ART EXHIBITION FOR THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN IN TRAVEL AND TOURISM

This weekend, a two-day art exhibition will raise awareness about child protection in the travel and tourism industry in Patong, Phuket. The exhibition is called “Together for the Protection of Children in Travel and Tourism” and is a collaboration between The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism (The Code), an initiative to protect children from sexual exploitation in the industry, and the local network on Child Protection.

Visitors can expect stage performances by Thai and Burmese school students, to participate in painting activities and display areas where the Child Protection network will introduce activities and games.

This two-day exhibition is an essential platform of an ongoing initiative to improve the protection of children in Phuket through engagement, collaboration and strengthening partnerships between tourism businesses, the community and expert organizations. The main objective is to raise awareness about children’s right to live free from sexual exploitation.

The Port Arena Area, Jungceylon Mall, Patong, Phuket

11:00 – 19:30 hours, 7th and 8th of September

Opening ceremony: 

7th of September, 14:00 hours

Panel discussion: 

At 15:00 hours there will be a panel discussion on Protecting Children in Travel and Tourism. The panel includes Mr. Robbert van der Berg, Executive Director at ECPAT International, Dr. Kumnung Sing-Eiem, Advisor to the Mayor of Patong Municipality and Attorney Mr. Itthichot Kulrattanachot, Provincial Public Prosecutor & the Chair of the network on Children Protection, Phuket.
