Phuket, Thailand – 17 May 2019: JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa recently organized the 1st JW Lifesaving Championship 2019, at hotel’s beachfront, Mai Khao beach. 30 lifeguards from hotels and resorts on the island were participating in the lifesaving competition. This Lifesaving sport helps develop the lifesaving skills, knowledge and techniques, and plays an important role in providing opportunities to enhance for drowning prevention activities. The purposes of the event, to promote the provision of lifesaving services and lifesaving sport throughout the community and lifeguards around the Phuket island as well as stimulate the interest of our lifeguards to improve their ability and effectiveness in emergency situation in the aquatic environment especially during the Monsoon season. The JW Lifesaving Championship 2019 included Body Board race – Individual – Adults category; Body Board race – Individual – Open category; Beach Iron Man – Team – Open category (400M beach run + 200M Swim + 400M Beach Run); Beach Iron Man – Individual – Adults category (400M beach run + 200M Swim + 400M Beach Run). Mr. Matthias Y. Sutter, General Manager of JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa preside over the event and congratulated all lifesavers on the continuing growth in participation in lifesaving sport and took part of Lifesaving Championship. The Winners received medal, cash prize, accommodation, spa and dinning voucher. The JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa also conducted the emergency stimulation how lifeguards save people life from the Jellyfish stings, heat stroke and drowning in the ocean situation.
