Simpson Marine Celebrates Multiple Successes at Singapore Yacht Show 2019

Singapore, 8 May 2019 – Celebrating 35 years in business this year, Simpson Marine is delighted to have completed the 9th edition of the Singapore Yacht Show with multiple successes, including several on-site yacht sales and the company’s biggest ever display of yachts. Held at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove from 11 April – 14 April 2019, the Singapore Yacht Show is the most respected and well- established yacht show in Asia with over 90 yachts on display this year. This impressive line-up of yachts included Simpson Marine’s record-breaking fleet of 16 yachts from the world’s leading brands. The Simpson Marine Show fleet included three brokerage yachts and several notable yacht premieres including the Sanlorenzo SD126, Sanlorenzo SL86, Lagoon SEVENTY 7, Lagoon 40 and the Aquila 36. All these yachts proved extremely popular, with four sales confirmed at the Show and several more under negotiation.

Making their Asia Premieres, the newly arrived Sanlorenzo SD126 and SL86 hosted an exclusive exhibition on board, composed of a series of art pieces, including paintings and sculptures, by Alixe Fu and Tan Ping. This one-off exhibition was curated by Amanda Wei Gallery, Sanlorenzo Asia’s Art Partner, with these two names having worked together in the past at private art events and the recent Art Basel Hong Kong.

Sanlorenzo’s Bespoke Car Partner, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, were present throughout the show in a continuation of the regional collaboration between these two renowned brands. The sought-after Rolls-Royce SUV Cullinan was displayed at the centre of the marina, positioned right by the entrance to the Sanlorenzo Premier dock, which added a unique and prestigious feel to the whole event.

The Sanlorenzo stand saw another significant Asia debut made at the show. Piero Lissoni, Art Director for Sanlorenzo, brought his fresh perspective and talent for design to the Sanlorenzo stand with a special design lounge, which marked the first reinvented concept of its kind. A shipping container was integrated as the stand’s base and design, and the artistic strategy was developed in line with Sanlorenzo’s art-focused approach that has been refined since Piero Lissoni’s appointment as the Art Director of Sanlorenzo.

The Sanlorenzo display at the show made a real impact, perfectly showcasing this prestigious brand to show visitors. “This year the focus was firmly on the yachts, with a stunning display and two Asia Premieres with the SL86 and SD126. Both yachts attracted a lot of attention with the SD126 being the star of the show,” says Nick Stratton, Sanlorenzo Asia Sales Manager. “Our guests appreciated the beautiful tailor-made interiors and each yacht showcased what is possible from the Sanlorenzo shipyard. We were very proud this year to entertain clients in our Piero Lissoni design lounge – a mini version of the atmosphere created in the larger European shows. The Singapore Yacht Show remains the best platform to present our yachts and brand to the Asian market, and we expect to do business as a result of the show.”

In addition to the impressive Sanlorenzo display, Simpson Marine presented an imposing fleet from the Beneteau Group with the full range of Gran Turismo sport cruisers – the Gran Turismo 40, 46 and 50 – and two-day cruisers, the Antares 8 and Flyer 7.7, on show. Lagoon Catamarans had an equally strong presence with their impressive display of four yachts including the always stunning flagship Lagoon SEVENTY 7. Also on display was the Lagoon 40, making its Singapore Premiere, the bestselling Lagoon 450F and the Lagoon 50, which sold at the show. Members of the top management from the Beneteau Group were all in attendance at the show, emphasising the Group’s growing focus on and engagement with Asia – this relationship has lasted for more than 35 years, with Simpson Marine representing the Beneteau Group in Asia for most of this time.

Named winner of the ‘Multihull of the Year’ Award by Multicoques Magazine the Aquila 36 was undoubtedly one of the most popular power catamarans at the show. Her diverse design, tailored to a wide range of boating lifestyles, including family days on the water, lively cruises and overnight fishing trips, is one of the many reasons for her popularity and ensured high numbers of viewings. The yacht also gave a good insight into the new Aquila 32, which was just presented to the US market at the Miami Boat Show in February and will be ready to debut in Asia in the summer.

In addition to the new yachts on display at the Show, Simpson Marine presented three central listings, with an Azimut 80, a Grand Soleil 54 and 40m Lürssen superyacht Be Mine all presented within the Group’s central display area. The Simpson Marine team is proud to announce that the popular Azimut 80 found its new owner directly at the show.

“The Singapore Yacht Show has long been one of the most important yacht shows for Simpson Marine, as the largest show in Asia with the biggest display and many new models making their Asian debuts, and our line-up for the show gets bigger and greater every year,” says Richard Allen, Group General Manager. “We are proud to have sold four yachts at the show with flowing enquiries and ongoing negotiations thereafter. The increase in yacht ownership and our results at the Singapore Yacht Show is a good representation of Simpson Marine’s network and our strong representation of the world’s most prestigious yachting brands – we are committed to bringing in a variety of luxury yachts to cater for all different needs and desires of the Asian market.”

Both the Yacht Charter and Yacht Care divisions were on hand offering an inspiring selection of yacht charter holidays in Asia and beyond with the season’s best last-minute deals. Simpson Marine’s attractive tailor-made owner charter management programmes, including special Yacht Care packages for absentee owners to make their yachting adventure in Asia ever easier, proved of high interest to show visitors.
