Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort organises Planet21, eco-friendly programme for local community

May 2018, Krabi – On May 19, Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort hosted an environmental event for children from the nearby Laempong and Koh Kwang villages, in conjunction with the AccorHotels Planet 21 programme and the Shark Guardian charity.

It was the first time the resort opens their doors to welcome local children to experience the largest hotel swimming pool in Thailand.
The day commenced with a welcome speech by General Manager Mr.Courtois Bertrand, Director of Sports and Recreation Mr.Mobeen Akhalwaya, Shark Guardian project owner Mr.Brendon Sing, Chief Executive of the SAO Mr. Sukgai Janorn and Senior Deputy District Chief of Krabi Mr.Sawaitchut Suwannarat. The children were then invited to participate in a beach-cleaning activity on the hotel’s beachfront. They created ornaments out of recycled paper and learned more about the shark conservation project from Brendon.

Afterwards, the children were invited to enjoy lunch at Maya restaurant and a relaxing session by the pool. The day ended with an energetic trampoline and jumping castle activity at the Sofitel Garden, with sweet treats and soft drinks provided.

The goal of the day was to connect with the residents of the region, as one of the key priorities of the AccorHotels Planet 21 Programme is to work with local communities. By engaging with the local children from the nearby Krabi villages, Sofitel Krabi hope to facilitate stronger relationships with the inhabitants of the area.
